The Henley Marathon Swim usually starts at Henley Rowing Club. Unfortunately, this year the Regatta was moved from June to August and the first 4K section to Hambleden Lock could not be used. So, the distance was reduced to 10k. This is a good spectator swim as there is a riverside path.
The Course: This runs downstream along the River Thames from Hambleden to Marlow. It is split into 3 stages, with feeding stations and exit routes to avoid the locks. The three stages are approximately 6km / 1.8km / 2.2km.
Congratulation to Stuart Hutcheson from the Borough of Harrow Swimming club Masters squad who has participated in this event and came fourth in his age group
Conditions were good, slight breeze, cloudy sunny, and because of the recent rain a significant current assist. Water temperature about 20/21 degC.
There were 458 wetsuit swimmers and 77 non-wetsuit swimmers.
I had a good swim. Downhill swimming is definitely good.
